Traveling Korea

July 11, 2022 in Travel

A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture are like a tree without roots. – Marcus Garvey

Every visitor and backpacker is enticed to explore South Korea’s mysterious, unique region and its numerous attractions. South Korea provides such an incredible variety of undiscovered natural sights and urban pleasures, leaving many travel options.

There are trendy cities and traditional folk towns, peaceful islands, and breathtaking landscapes. We began making our travel wish list last winter. Some things we were able to do, others we have yet to get to! The hospital stay and Hawaiian adventure didn’t help us dwindle down the list.

We have a little time left in Korea, so now’s the time! We have created a new list of must-sees and things to do while we are here.

Places We’ve Been

  1. Gongsanseong Fortress
  2. Independence Hall

  5. Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ)
  6. Hwaseong Fortress (Suwon, South Korea)
  7. Seoraksa National Park
  8. Yongma Land (Abandoned Theme Park)

Our Bucket List

  1. Andong Hahoe Folk Village (Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea)

  7. Darangee Village (Namhae Island)
  8. Gangchon Rail Park
  9. Garden of Morning Calm (Seoul)
  10. Ggotji Beach (Anmyeon-eup, South Korea)
  11. Gongryong Ridge (Gangwon, South Korea)
  12. Gwang-An-Bridge (Busan, South Korea)
  13. Gyeongju (North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea)
  14. Haeinsa Temple (South Gyeongsang, South Korea)
  15. Jeju Island
  16. Jeonju (North Jeolla Province, South Korea)
  17. Jeungdo Salt Farm (Jeungdo Island)
  18. Juknokwon Bamboo Forrest (Damyang, South Korea)
  19. Kyeong-Wha Station Cherry Blossom Road (Jinhae, South Korea)
  20. Naganeupseong Folk Village (Suncheon-si, South Korea)
  21. Nami Island (Seoul, South Korea)
  22. Seongsan Sunrise Peak (Jeju Island)
  23. Uleung Island Seaside Road (Gyeongsangbuk-Do, South Korea)
  24. Upo Marsh (Changnyeong, South Korea)
  25. Yonggungsa Temple (Busan, South Korea)

As you can see, we’ve got some traveling to do! I am worried about hiking and hills, but I’m up for the experience and the scenery! Not to mention, the cafes!

What are your must-sees before summer ends? Until next time, happy traveling!
