Hi, I’m Leslie!
Life has a way of rewriting our stories in ways we never expect. Mine began in th
e world of business, working as an HR Director, until I married my husband, a proud member of the U.S. Air Force. Together, we crisscrossed the country, lived in places I never dreamed of, and even spent two years in South Korea.
But life shifted when my dad passed away. In that moment of loss, we were given a humanitarian assignment to return home and care for my mom. Stepping into that role changed me—it reshaped my heart and my purpose. It also inspired me to go back to school and pursue a degree in counseling so I could walk alongside others navigating seasons of change, grief, and caregiving.
When my husband retired from the Air Force, we packed up life in Arkansas and moved to Illinois. By God’s grace, we found a farmhouse on seventeen acres—a place where we could put down roots. The best part? It came with a separate little house, just for Mom, so we could keep her close while giving her space to call her own.
This blog was born out of that journey. It’s a space for honesty and encouragement, where I share the joys and heartaches of caregiving, the lessons learned in family and faith, and the ways we try to create beauty and meaning in the middle of it all. It’s a place to share:
- The joys and challenges of caregiving
- Faith that sustains in the hard moments
- Encouragement for those walking the “sandwich generation” road
- A touch of farmhouse life and simple living
If you find yourself in the “sandwich generation”—caring for aging parents while still raising a family—you’re not alone here. My hope is that this space will feel like a warm kitchen table—where we can share stories, find grace, and remind one another that this road, while hard, is also filled with meaning and love.
